Winemaking has been at the heart of Rutherglen for many years, with the families that founded Rutherglen still making wine in the region today. These legendry pioneers have inspired a new generation of entrepreneurial newcomers who are building on the region's rich history, as well as bringing fresh ideas of their own.
Cellar Door Experiences A love of Rutherglen wines has been passed down through generations the world over, this love often first discovered by a visit to Rutherglen's cellar doors. Each cellar door provides an opportunity to take in the sights, aromas and taste the fantastic variety of wines available.
Meet the people behind the famous Rutherglen wines by going to the source of our product and hearing the stories behind our wines. Our cellar doors are wide open with a friendly face ready to share their love of Rutherglen and a laugh, whilst guiding you through the variety of wines on offer.
Discover the history through the architecture of the wineries and their surrounding buildings. From majestic castles, dormitories where the workforce slept, to contemporary cellar doors with views over the vines, our winery properties provide a real insight into the history of Rutherglen. Ask the cellar door staff about the people who made and drank the wines of Rutherglen in the past and uncover stories of gold miners, a strong Chinese work force, bushrangers and royalty.
