BOUTIQUE RUTHERGLEN WINERY EXCELS IN TABLE WINES
The results of the 123rd Rutherglen Wine Show were announced last week. Attracting around 2000 entries from over 230 wineries from all over Australia, the Rutherglen wine show is one of the major wine shows in the country.
In a coup for Rutherglen table wines, one of Rutherglen's own was the equal 3rd highest Gold medal winner for table wines in this national show ('table wines' exclude fortified wines, which were again a big success for Rutherglen).
Anderson winery won 5 Gold medals for table wines in the show. Only 3 other exhibitors in the show did this. This is a huge achievement for the family owned boutique winery and 8 hectare vineyard. The other 3 top exhibitors were much larger companies – the smallest being Brands Laira of Coonawarra with over 250 hectares of vineyard.
Anderson won their Gold medals for their 2002 Cellar block Sparkling Shiraz (this wine has now won 6 Gold medals), their 2007 Cellar block Durif, 2008 Cellar block Durif, 2007 Verrier Durif Shiraz and 2008 Verrier Durif Shiraz.
